John Stepanovich

Mr. Stepanovich has 36 years of experience trying cases in courtrooms across the country including matters attracting national recognition. A federal judge that he appeared before described him a “trial lawyer with few peers.”
Mr. Stepanovich concentrates his practice on litigation matters with a particular expertise in constitutional and civil rights litigation in federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court where he has appeared as Counsel in three cases:
- Santa Fe Independent School District v. Doe, 530 U.S. 290, 120 S. Ct. 2266 (2000)
- Schenck v. Pro-Choice Network of Western New York, 519 U.S. 357, 117 S. Ct. 855 (1997)
- Lamb's Chapel v. Center Moriches School District, 508 U.S. 384, 113 S. Ct. 2141 (1993)
In his three-decade career, he has also successfully represented personal injury victims obtaining jury verdicts and settlements into the millions. Early in his career, Mr. Stepanovich served as a prosecuting attorney where he prosecuted hundreds of felony cases including jury trials for capital murder, murder, rape, and extortion.
Since 1995, Mr. Stepanovich has served on the Faculty of Regent University School of Law as an Adjunct Professor where he taught 1st Amendment Law, Trial Practice, and Civil Pretrial Practice and Procedure.
Mr. Stepanovich has appeared on national media outlets as a legal commentator on constitutional and civil rights issues.
